About Us

Albion Community Power has two executive Directors and two non-executive Directors who have considerable experience in the renewable energy sector. The executive Directors’ services are being made available by Albion, which has a strong expertise in renewable energy projects. 

Albion has an 21 year track record of investing in high yielding asset backed businesses. Albion has financed £42 million in renewable energy companies through its VCTs.

Albion is working with project partners on a number of renewable energy projects and further projects have been identified which will be suitable for ownership and operation by Albion Community Power.

The Board

Volker Beckers, FEI - Non - Executive Chairman

Group CEO of RWE Npower plc from 2010 to 2012 and prior to that its Group CFO from 2003 to 2009. He is a member of King’s College London’s advisory board at the European Centre for Energy and Resource Security and was voted the Outstanding Contribution Award at the 2012 Energy Awards. He was also a non-executive director of HM Revenue & Customs. He is a non-executive director of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, chairman of SpencerAM Limited, non-executive director of Elexon Limited, non-executive director of Reactive Technologies Limited and is chairman of the advisory board of the Erasmus Centre for Future Energy Business of Erasmus University, Rotterdam.

Robert Armour OBE, MBA, LLB, FIE, FCIS - Non-Executive Director

General Counsel of British Energy Group and its predecessors from 1990 to 2009, he was originally a partner in a Scottish legal firm acting for energy clients. Following the takeover of British Energy by EDF in 2009, he managed the sale of EDF Energy’s UK electricity distribution interests (now UK Power Networks) to CKI. He is currently Chairman of Smarter Grid Solutions Ltd and three companies in which Albion Ventures VCTs have invested. He is a trustee of The Nuclear Trust, as well as a director of Nuclear Liabilities Fund Limited, the nuclear decommissioning fund for EDF Energy's nuclear power stations and is Senior Counsel at Gowlings, an international legal practice. He was also chairman of the Independent Expert Commission on Energy Regulation set up by the Scottish Government. He has an LLB and an MBA from Edinburgh University.

Patrick Reeve MA, ACA - Chief Executive

Managing Partner of Albion Ventures

He qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte Haskins & Sells before joining Casenove & Co where he spent three years in the corporate finance department. He joined Close Brothers Group in 1989, working in both the development capital and corporate finance divisions before founding the venture capital division in 1996. He led the buy-out of this business from Close Brothers in 2009. He read Modern Languages at Oxford University. He is a Member of Council on the British Venture Capital Association and is a member of the audit committee of University College London. He is also a director of UCL Business, the university technology transfer arm. He devotes approximately one day a week to the company.


David Gudgin BSc, ACMA - Managing Director

Head of Renewables at Albion Ventures

He qualified as a management accountant with ICL and spent three years based at the BBC. In 1999, he joined 3i PLC as an investor in European technology based in London and Amsterdam. In 2002 he moved to Foursome Investments (now Frog Capital) as the lead investor for two funds, an environmental technology fund and a later stage development capital fund, before joining Close Ventures in 2005. He became a partner in Albion in 2009. David has a BSc in Economics from Warwick University. David has been investing in Cleantech since 2003. He is a director, inter alia, of TEG Biogas (Perth) Chonais Holdings, Chonais Hydro, Dragon Hydro, AlphaGen Projects, ACP Wind, ACP Infinite and Infinite Ventures (Goathill). He devotes at least 70 per cent. of his time to the company.


Key Executives

Adam Chirkowski MA

Adam is responsible primarily for assisting on projects in the hydro and biogas sectors. Prior to joining Albion in 2013, he spent five years working in corporate finance at Rothschild.  He graduated from Nottingham University with a first class degree in industrial economics and a masters in corporate strategy and governance. At Albion he has worked on the All't Gharagain hydro investment. He is a director of AlphaGen Projects and devotes at least 70 per cent. of his time to the company.

Mike joined Albion Community Power in 2015 and is Head of Finance.


Emil Gigov BA(Hons), FCA

Emil assists in sourcing wind projects for ACP. He graduated from the European Business School, London, with a BA (Hons) Degree in European Business Administration in 1994. He then joined KPMG in their financial services division and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1997. Following this he transferred to KPMG Corporate Finance and joined Close Ventures in 2000. Emil became a partner in Albion in 2009 and is responsible for Albion's wind investments. He is a director of Infinite Ventures (Blaencilgoed) and Infinite Investments (Tafarnaubach).


Rad Hart-George, Wind Business Development Manager

Rad Hart-George BSc Hons, MPA, FRGS

Rad is responsible for originating renewable energy investments. Prior to joining Albion in 2015, he spent eight years working in the wind industry, primarily developing onshore projects in the UK. He has an undergraduate geography degree from Nottingham University and a masters’ degree from Columbia University in Environmental Science & Policy graduating with a 4.0 GPA. He is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and was a committee member of RenewableUK’s onshore planning sub-group from 2012- 2015. Outside of work he is a keen cyclist and is shortly due to complete an unassisted circumnavigation of Britain raising in excess of £80k for the RNLI.


Stuart Mant

Stuart began his career with HSBC Asset Management in 1998. During his time there he held several roles, lastly as a product specialist within the business development team, focusing on their core equity and fixed income propositions. In 2007 he joined Close investments as a Business Development Manager where he was responsible for IFA and discretionary clients in London and the South East as well as heading up VCT sales. Stuart left Close Investments in 2008 to take up a role with Marlborough Fund Managers and was responsible for taking funds to market, with particular focus on small cap equity funds, commodity funds and absolute return strategies. In 2010 he joined Ingenious Media Investments as an Investment Manager where his role was to develop relationships with private banks, wealth managers, accountants, solicitors and tax advisers. Stuart joined the Albion team in 2012 as Head of Sales.


Dr. Christoph Ruedig MBA

Christoph is responsible for sourcing hydro projects for ACP. He joined Albion in October 2011. He initially practised as a radiologist, before spending 3 years at Bain & Company. In 2006 he joined 3i working for their Healthcare Venture Capital arm. Most recently he has worked for General Electric UK. He holds a degree in medicine from Ludwig-Maximilians University, Munich and an MBA from INSEAD. He has led the Dragon Hydro, All't A Chonais and Allt' Gharagain hydro investments for Albion and the Chaorach project for ACP.


Victoria Scott BSc(Hons) ARCS

After graduating in Biochemistry at Imperial College, University of London, Victoria moved into marketing and sales with The Observer Newspaper which was quickly followed by joining Associated Newspapers on the launch team of The Mail on Sunday. After 10 years within the National Newspaper Industry, Victoria moved into the magazine business firstly as Commercial Director and then Board Director building Bertelsmann in the UK, then into a broader range of printed and broadcast media as Board Director and Commercial Director EMAP. Victoria then moved into international product development for Reader’s Digest. Victoria joined the team in 2012 and manages marketing and communications for Albion Group.


Henry Stanford MA, ACA

Henry assists David Gudgin in sourcing AD projects for ACP. He qualified as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen before joining the corporate finance department of Close Brothers Group in 1992. He moved to Close Ventures in 1998, becoming a partner in Albion n 2009, where he has been responsible for much of the asset-based investment portfolio. He holds an MA degree in Classics from Oxford University. At Albion, he has been on the boards, inter alia, of The Street by Street Solar Programme, Regenerco Renewable Energy and AVESI.


Marco Yu MPhil, MA, MRICS

Marco is responsible, inter alia, for sourcing wind and solar projects for ACP. He spent two and a half  years at Bouygues (UK), before moving to EC Harris in 2005, where he advised senior lenders on large capital projects.He joined Close Ventures in 2007. Marco graduated from Cambridge University with a first class degree in economics and is a Chartered Surveyor. At Albion, Marco has worked on The Street by Street Solar Programme, Regenerco Renewable Energy, AVESI, Alto Prodotto Wind, Greenenerco and TEG Biogas (Perth) investments. He is a director of ACP Infinite, Infinite Ventures (Blaencilgoed), Infinite Ventures (Goathill) and Infinite Investments (Tafarnaubach) and devotes at least 70 per cent. of his time to the company.
